a package arrived for ezra.
it’s his new modkat! he loves it. ps: this is my last post on this subject ever.
pps: i know this is a ridiculous amount to pay for a box. i’m trying not to think about it, and to think about how much more sanitary it seems. gross.

montreal.
we stayed in plateau mont-royal, which is basically a much cooler, much bigger version of montrose. it was HOT. i mean, hot. i may have complained a little. b was really nice about it and we got smoothies in the afternoon.
b brushed up on a little french. i learned how to say, “hi” and “do you speak english?” (sad, i know). the bike system, bixi, was so fun and convenient. we’ll definitely be back.

newbootbabies.
my new babies came in the mail today (since the flagship didn’t have them stocked in my size in JULY- who would’ve guessed), the beginning preparations for this atlanta girl’s first new england winter. shearling lined, ladies and gentlemen.
and speaking of babies, have we seen this?
books.
note: book storage. we’ve been thinking about something like this.

sundaymorning.
this morning, i woke up very early. we drove into portland and met joe and jimmy in a parking lot. we got in rosie, joe’s old red suburban. we drove out to the country, and joe and jimmy taught us a little bit about how to set up- testing the wind, unfurling the equipment.
b helped a lot while i watched a lot.
then, we lifted off and sailed towards the ocean.
it was quiet and calm- much more peaceful than i’d imagined. we dropped down low and saw deer running through a marsh. the propane was warm on my face when it shot up into the balloon.
we had a soft, easy landing in a cow field, and did the obvious thing to do at 7 am after a safe touchdown:
the cows came to eat breakfast with us. they were very curious about what we were doing in their field.
we landed on a dairy farm, so joe and jimmy swung rosie by the barn to say thanks. and the farmers invited us in. and there were baby cows. and we learned how to milk.
and it was a wonderful birthday, thanks to my sweet b. (thank you so much.)
